Nikon D3100 Focus Point.

Possibly a dummy question, hopefully a simple one to answer.

How do i set my Nikon D3100 focus to infinity?

Turn the focus ring on the lens till it reaches the infinity focus mark......like a sideways 8....

There is no infinity symbol; lens for the moment is the 18-55 i got with the camera.

With the kit lens I go to single point, move it up and focus on the horizon line. Closest example I have (was done with other lens) but it was taken using this method at F8 so it's not pin sharp.

The kit lens is not great at high F numbers so I try to avoid using them if I can. It also has some wonky stuff going on at zoomed way in and zoomed way out so this also is a factor.

edit: the colours look different on flicker - anyone know why?

Thankyou for this I will just have to make do until i upgrade. A fan of the crooked spire!
