Nikon D3100 Help!

Hi, not long had my D3100 but started having a problem with it I think...

When it's in any of the pre set modes like guide, auto, micro etc etc it will auto focus fine and it will beep when it has focused. But when its in P,A,S or M it will still auto focus fine it's just won't beep when it's focused but the red dot it the view finder will flash on what it's focused on like it should. But it use to beep when it was in any setting/mode, just stopped working the last time I had the camera on.

And the beep is switched on in the menu in the camera as well. So is my camera broken or have I missed something.

Is it in single shot focus mode AF-S not AF-C.
 
It can only be a good thing, beeping cameras are the spawn of Satan and owners that like beeps should be bludgeoned to death with the blunt end.

So, disaster averted :D
 
From another site

The beep also chirps when the D3100 successfully focuses when using Sports scene mode, as well as in AF-S or AF-A Autofocus modes. No beep sounds in AF-C mode, or when the subject is moving while in AF-A mode (because the D3100 effectively switches to AF-C mode at that point).

Yeah I was messing about with the different focus setting etc. And it was on AF-C when it's on AF-S the beep works fine :)

The beep does get annoying and will be getting switched off, was just making sure there was nothing wrong with my camera.
