Hi there,
Just joined up after a recommendation from a twitter friend (Richo on here I think)

I just bought me a Nikon D3100 and have lots of time to learn how to use it properly. however this question relates to a zoom lens.

I found a lens from my Dads old Canon Eos SLR camera in the attic and its got a hell of a zoom on it (well to me it has) looks like it would have been expensive back in the day. It has no electronic contacts so I know it would only be manual focus but could anyone tell me if there is any way I could make it compatable? Its a Samyang Lens and says 891273.Thats all I know about it.

Thanks in advance, I have no idea what Im doing yet :)

As above - and in general old Nikon lenses wont autofocus on a 3100. But the good news is a Nikon 55-200mm zoom will only cost around £145 anyway, and will be much lighter and smaller than an old lenses plus it will have VR.

Cheers guys, didnt know if you could get adaptors or anything as it seemed too good a bit of kit to just leave in the attic. I will have a look at the one mentioned though. Thanks
