Nikon D3100 Remote control

I found this remote control on Amazon after searching for "Nikon D3100 Remote control". However, in the details it says its compatible with Nikon D40, D40X, D60, D70, D70s, D80 and D90.

Can anyone tell me whether it will work or not, and if not point me in the right direction for one that will?

For some bizarre reason Nikon didn't fit the infra red sensor to the D3100 so unfortunately it's not going to work :(

Beware cheap copies of the MCDC2 , I bought one from fleabay and the metal shroud came off in the camera port, had to use pliers to get it out!
 
Have a look in the manual and it'll almost certainly tell you which remote control you need. Once you know that, you can start looking for 3rd party remotes if the genuine Nikon one is really too expensive. Unfortunately, photography isn't a cheap hobby and it's sometimes wirth paying a little extra for genuine parts just for the peace of mind.

Starting to realise this! Good fun though! I may go out on my bike this weekend purely to take pictures and practise a little. Keep fit & learn. Win win!
 
Oh, yes, great fun until the credit card bills roll in! It's also the only way I can be the least bit artistic - I need a ruler to draw the curtains!

Go careful on the bike and pad the camera out as well as you can - vibration + DSLR isn't a match made in heaven.

Carry on enjoying the hobby and only upgrade when you need to and can afford to. IMO, it's far better to spend wisely once than to save a few quid and end up needing/wanting to upgrade after a short period of time. I reckon most people who have played the game for a few years have at least one or two old bags in the loft or back of a cupboard, probably beside their early, cheap tripods (although the tripes may now be used as basic flash stands for off camera flash).
