Hi the original strap that came with my d3100 isnt as secure as i would like.Sometimes when ive got my camera over my shoulder the strap has slipped out of the metal rings on the camera.this has resulted in me nearly dropping the camera a few times.Does anyone know of anything more secure and where to get it. ive seen straps with metal swivel ends which look more secure but do not know where to get them. any ideas? thanks
 
Try here if it will allow it TP Branded straps for £16 - seem to be quite a buy for most members......
 
It sounds as if you haven't attached the strap correctly. If you had, the weight of the camera will prevent the strap from working loose. The manual shows how to attach the strap correctly.

This. I carry my D3100 on the standard strap and its never budged.
Make double sure you have correctly done it, as once done, it shouldnt move at all.
 
Just had a very quick scan through both the D3100 and D7000 user manual - couldn't find anything on how to attach the strap!

Here's a reasonable video showing how it's done.
 
its in the quick start guide, i got mine yesterday and it should be more than secure, after passing the strap through the camera rings and the plastic bit make sure you pass it completely through the plastic buckle both sides so that a little of the strap is kneck side of the buckles, this may be where you have gone wrong,
