nikon d3100 v d3000

This is going to be my first dslr and have pretty much set my sits on the nikon d3100 but am slightly short in the cash department and being impatient am considering the previous model the d3000 , now does the newer version warrent the extra cash as i have other things i`d like to get ,and would as a beginnner really notice the difference your thoughts would be appreciated ,Harvey

The D3000 is a capable camera (we have one as a society camera at uni), but the D3100 is a few steps ahead. It has higher resolution (14 vs 10mp), can shoot RAW+Fine JPG, better high ISO performance, 1080p movie and liveview, and a few minor refinements with controls.

Obviously these aren't major factors and you can still get great images with the D3000, but I think if the price difference isn't too much, the D3100 seems like a better option.

Definatly go for the d3100. I brought the d3000 about 8 months ago and just upgraded it to a d90.

Its a good camera its just the d3100 us much better

In many ways the D3100 is the hidden gem in the Nikon range. And whilst some people value metal bodies and inbuilt focus-motors etc. I strongly recommend this camera if you can possibly afford it.
