Can any owners either confirm or deny does the 3200 have a socket for using a wired cable release, I know that the 3000 and I'm fairly certain that the 3100 cannot take a cable release only the infrared ones but I'm sure I read that the 3200 you could have a proper cabled release

Any help appreciated
 
My Mrs has a D3200 and it has a socket for a cable release.
She bought a cheap one off eBay from memory.
 
The manual says there is only the option for an infra red remote.
Otherwise it is the remote release modes: delayed, self timer etc after pressing the shutter button.
 
Just had a quick peek at the Nikon UK site to see what's listed as an accessory release. They have the ML-L3 IR remote and the MC-DC2 cable listed.

Pages 58 and 177 in the manual both refer to the cord...

Hmm, I'm confused...

It says it works for lots of older cameras (D90 and D3100 for example) which have never had a cable release and the D3200 literature doesn't mention it either. Also, the D3200 has a micro USB socket not the mini USB that all the others have so how would it be compatible with all (Nikon don't seem to like adapters) :thinking:

Yes, the MC-DC2 plugs in the side under the cover.
It's more obvious on p177

Stick mc-dc2 into eBay and buy a cheap version of what comes back. Well at least that's why my Mrs did. After all, it's only a switch. A switch that I have lost plenty of in woods,beaches etc. hence why I buy cheap ones!
