Nikon D3200 vs D3300

Hello all.

To cut a long story short my girlfriend has started expressing an interest in a dSLR (can't think why), this is good as I was thinking about getting her one for Christmas anyway! I'm currently debating what to get her, and think an entry level dSLR is probably best for now. She has used my D300s a few times but I do wonder if it's a bit OTT for her needs.

Anyway at the moment you can get a D3200 body only in the UK for £225 - £20 Nikon cashback promotion which seems a steal. Would it be worth the extra £100+ to upgrade to a D3300 though?

Lens wise she would be able to have my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 which I think would make a cracking starter kit. I can always add an 55-300 for long reach stuff.

D3200 is a great starter camera. Really don't think the extra £100 for the D3300 brings that much. Use that money to buy a better lens.
 
The D3300 has a better continuous shooting rate, can shoot more pictures per battery charge, no Optical Low Pass Filter and a number of other incremental changes. I would agree that the almost 50% extra cost isn't really worth paying for these features and would go with the D3200 as the better value for money option
 
Hmmm yes you have all confirmed what I thought! Good to know. I think she will get good use of it but £200 isn't too bad to resell if she didn't.

The D3200 is so much better than my D40 which I started on!
 
Just to update, I got her a D3200 which I now have sat in front of me, for research and product testing purposes, of course.

£227 from Currys with free delivery and £20 cashback, can't argue. I've teamed it up with the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and all seems well.
