Nikon D40 filter question? Help :-O

Hi

I have a question for you

I have a Nikon D40 which has a 52mm lens. I have been looking at purchasing a UV filter (yes i know shame on me for not already having one) and a polarising filter.

I have just receievd a Hoya 52mm HMC UV filter but i cannot get it to fit my lens - it appears too small :bang:

I have no idea where i went wrong as i was under the impression you could use any Hoya filters on my lens

Help is urgently needed - thanks in advance

The 18-55mm kit lens has a 52mm filter thread so it should fit.

No it so much smaller - I think maybe there is an issue with the filter maybe it has been boxed incorrectly :bonk:

Its possible, where did you buy it as some on ebay are fake.

I bought it from Amazon but I think i best return it and pop into my local camera shop for the next one just to be on the safe side
