Nikon D50 and ring flash issues

A friend of mine has a Nikon D50 and a starblitz 1000 auto macro lite but it won`t work on her camera, unfortunately i`ve not had a hands on look so it`s all based on her word so far ,has anyone any ideas based on the info so far?

I'm pretty sure that the D50 doesn't have a pc sync port which your friend would need to connect that flash.
They would need the AS-15 conector which fits to the camera hot shoe.

So it it won`t work on purely the hot shoe then?

If it's one of these then no. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/3711...3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108 It screws into the lens filter thread and is connected to the camera via the PC cord to the camera's PC socket (Which the D50 appears not to have.).
It'll all make sense when you see it.

NB It may be worth checking the trigger voltage.
