Nikon D50 - help:(

Not found the time to come on here much recently, and when I do its not good. I was packing away my D5k to get repaired at Argos (LCD is a bit odd), and get out the D50 to take a few test shots, stick on the 70-300 VR and try and take a shot. Nothing happens, then the err message is displayed on the LCD and a very quick flicking sound from in side. I switched it off, then took out the batter, card and reset it. Nothing happened, so I had a look inside and somehow the shutter has jammed/come out. No idea why this has happened, as it was working fine the other day. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Its a bad time for it to happen too, as I'd banked on using it next week when we go to Scotland, and was intending to sell it after to get back some much needed funds. :shake:

Wasn't there a big sticker in the mirror box that read something like


Das Machine is nicht fur gefingerpoken und mittengrabben. Ist easy schnappen *** springenwerk, blowenfusen und poppencorken mit spitzensparken. Ist nicht fur gewerken by das dummkopfen. Das rubbernecken sightseeren musten keepen das cotten-pickenen hands in das pockets - relaxen und watchen das blinkenlights.

Looks like a great big fingerprint on the shutter blades...

Yes, it had already come out/displaced and I touched it to see if it would just get back into place. My brother had done this fine ages ago on his old Minolta. It is my fingerprint, but its there becasue I touched it to see if it would go back in, once it was displaced, the shutter's not torn or anything, apart from the fingerprint its the same as it was. I didn't displace it!

Any advice, apart from taking it to Nikon?

It looks like the second shutter leaf from the bottom has, at the end, shifted so its blocking the bottom part from moving.Will the tip of it not move if you (very gently) try to put it back in place?
