NIKON D50 PROBLEM

Hi

New to the forum and hope somebody may be able to help with a problem I have. I have a Nikon D50 and when I use the sport mode the shutter sometimes does not fully depress so I get either a copy of my previous photo or bars of pink and purple. I have reset the camera but with no change. Can anybody help please?

this bit dosent make sense , either the shutter fires or it dosent , if you mean the shutter dosent fire when you push the shutter button , it may be because the focus hasnt locked on, never had the pink and purple bit on mine though

Hi there,
I'll reply but I can't really help, I don't use the various modes on my D50, preferring shutter or aperture controls, but I've just tried the sports mode and it is fine, so I'm afraid you do seem to have a problem. Not much help I know but there you go.

I had the pink and purple bars on my Coolpix 5700 when the sensor packed up. This was replaced under 'goodwill' a long time after the warranty ran out.

If you camera works in the other modes, that would rule out the sensor, though.
