Does anybody know if the Nikon D500 has a good quality build I.e. does it feel solid in the hand and could you put a big lens on the front of it without worrying it will break the mount off??

Thanks

feels like a tank - no worries on the two that i've had. It's a proper Pro DSLR.

One of the best DSLRs around in terms of build.

Mine don't get too easy a life, both are over 2 years old with no issues at all.

As @gramps said above, just don't go hanging a heavy lens on the front. Attach a strap to the tripod mount.

Got mine yesterday and very impressed with how solid it is. Feels just like my D810 and D3 and I actually like the fact it has no built in flash to worry about in bad weather. Just treat it as you would any pro-spec DSLR and as per comments above, don't go hanging big lenses off it.

As everyone has said - support large lenses by a strap to the tripod foot - this applies to every camera. But lenses like the 70-300, 80-400 or 200-500 shouldn't put much strain on the mount...

As for build quality, there is nothing to be worried about.
