nikon d5000 advice

Im looking at getting a shutter release switch for my nikon d5000, i have seen some wireless ones on the bay that are reasonably cheap, but i was wandering can i fit a wired one to it as i cant seem to find any where to plug it in, the only place i can think of is maybe it shares the same socket as the gps.

also if it can take a wired has anyone got any suggestions on which one is half decent, ive got about 20-£40

also if the wireless ones are any good which one would you suggest

If you just want to remotely trigger the camera, then the wireless ones are just fine. If you would like something that offers shutter lock (for bulb mode) or a timer facility then go for a wired. To be honest, if you can afford it, both have their uses.

The D5000 uses the same socket as the GPS for the remote.

Something like this would work well but there are cheaper options on ebay or 7 day shop around the £15 mark. £5 more on a chinese wireless remote and you have all angles covered.

The ML-L3 works on bulb setting, just displays as "Time" Its made by nikon and it's 20 quid ish. (Cheaper than the wired which is 25ish) The only advantage that a wired release will give is some offer a timer for time lapse. I would go with the ML-L3 and a cheap wired time lapse release for about 7 quid.
