guys i have had my camera since sat. very happy so far however i noticed today something which i think is a fault. if you change the camera to landscape mode the square in the centre of the veiw finder illuminates however running from it to the top of the screen is a faint line. this line is also visible when the camera is in auto mode and self focusing when the centre focus square lights the light appears again. i cant see it if i use live view so it must be something to do with the view finder. i cannot see it in photos. i took the camera back to jessops and they were v helpful they even got one of there ones out and there the line was again. he thought it could be a focusing line however when you swith the grid view on the faint line is offset from the centre so this cnt be the case. i will ring nikon tomorrow to find out what is going on but culd other 5000 users check and let me know if you have it? or do you think this is normal? to me it doesnt seem normal esp as it with only the centre square. please help before i go mad

no idea about the D5000, but my D50 does exactly that. A tiny little faint line that run from each of the focusing squares to the edge of the screen - it doesn't seem to have affected any pic from it though

It's what connects the red light to power (sorry not technical) but if that faint line wasn't there the focus points wouldn't light up. They're on the focus screen which isn't used in live view.

doh!!! well i panacked for nothing. thanks guys i can enjoy the camera again :D:D:D:D:D
