Are there enough D6 owners out there to warrant a thread to discuss experience, user tips and tricks, configuration settings, autofocus, good match lenses and the like?

Well, perhaps unsurprising, there doesn’t seem to be too many D6 owners out there.

Nevertheless, looking around the more popular online forums, the topic appears to divide into two main groups;

1. Those who don’t own a D6 and have no intention of ever doing so for reasons ranging from DSLR’s are dead to the Z9 reigns supreme in the Nikon heavens and is the only Nikon worth buying, and not forgetting the many influenced by the intensely negative comments on YouTube, etc. following the D6 announcement which appeared driven by the fact that the D6 was not the camera they wanted, or believed Nikon should have introduced.

2. Those who did actually buy a D6 and appear to be very happy with their choice, including those who upgraded from or added to a D5, the latter’s comments debunking the ‘it’s only a D5.2 or D5s’ opinions, again primarily voiced by those who elected not to buy a D6, a choice presumably based on the internet and spec sheet.

Again, not surprising, but worth thinking about before investing hard earned cash in new systems and taking considerable losses to trade up.

Of course, YMMV.

Hi John, it's quite a specialised bit of kit, so I'd imagine very few amateur togs would own one. It seems to me that users here are much less gear-headed than a few years back, possibly because all the mirrorless cameras have become so good, and so there's much less drive for owning a hardcore pro camera with a historic lens mount.

Re len's matches. Pretty much any F mount prime or zoom is going to be great. It's not a sensor with a dense pixel count like the D850 which means only the sharpest primes and zooms will do. With a D6 I'd be much less fussy about lenses.

Re settings and use, this is a pro camera used by the most established and capable photographers for subjects that need high frame count and blazing fast AF. Think sports, wildlife and aviation.
