Nikon D70 pop up flash

Hi all

My Dads got a D70 where he's broken the pop up flash. The flash still fires, but it won't clip back down. He's not keen on sending it off, so does anyone have any experience with fixing it?

Any experience with taking them apart, or even putting them back together??

If you don't use the Pop Up flash often, why don't you just tape it down.

Hi

The rotate the screw method is worth its weight in gold.

I am very surprised at Nikon for letting a poor design through. It is poor design if the slightest of mechanical insults can influence the alignment of a single fastener and have such a large authority on reliability. Both my D70 did this two years ago, and today, my D90. The merest brush of the lanyard under tension was enough to throw something out of alignment to cause the flash latch mechanism to fail.

Come on Nikon, sort this out, it's practically an epidemic.
