Nikon D70 shutter issue

Hi all

I have had this for ages and the camera has just been sat on hte side for ages but now I want to try and get it fixed .

The problem is that when you press the shutter button, the flash will flash and ERR appears on the LCD. release the shutter button and press it again, then the shutter actuates. No pictures are saved to the card at all.

I'm guessing people will have had this issue and may be able to tell me what the problem is?

Never encountered that on mine. Only time I had an ERR message the camera stopped working, so I remove the battery, had a brew, put the battery back in and everything was fine and there's been no problems since. Have you tried removing the battery?

Yes - could also try restoring the camera to the factory default condition and reformat the card.

The camera was without a battery (at all) for about 3 months and I have just updated the firmware from A-1.2 B-1.3 to A&B 2.0 so I'm guessing that will have reset to factory? The card was formatted quite a few times last time and again today when I was doing the firmwares.
