Nikon D700 focussing problem

Am a little bit stuck - for some reason my D700 does not seem to be focussing as it once did. i have just returned from a photoshoot and a number of my images seem a little soft. Looking at the camera settings, it does not appear that I have made any school boy errors; exposure looks OK.

The problem seems to be across all 3 lenses I use; a Nikon 70-200, f2.8, Sigma 24-70, f2.8 and a Nikon 50mm, f1.8.

Having done some reading around, it may be a front focussing issue. I have done a couple of tests as suggested by online advice but the results seem erratic; sometimes the pin sharpness is there, other times it is not.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or offer any suggestions? I have a wedding to shoot in November and want everything behaving itself for then.

Perhaps the AF sensor has got a bit too dusty, has it ever been serviced?

That would be my thought, may be worth giving it a blow out with a "Rocket Blower".

Go into the menu and set "Lock up mirror for cleaning", the focus sensors are located at the bottom of the mirror box, with the mirror up you will see the rectangular opening that houses the focus sensors.
 
Thanks for the thoughts. Camera has not been serviced so certainly worth a go. I did take it in at the weekend to have the sensor cleaned though.
