Nikon D700 Problems.

Evening all.

Has any other D700 owner encountered this problem...

Sometimes when shooting, the release becomes unresponsive and upon checking the top display, the empty flashing battery icon is showing - even with a full battery.

Wait a few seconds, then half depress the shutter release again and it carries on as normal again.

My installed firmware is A 1.02 and B 1.02 and as far as I can tell this isn't the current version, the only problem being is that when I try to update the firmware, there is no option to do so in my setup menu. On the Firmware Version screen all it says is the A and B items installed and the done/ok yellow bar at the bottom.

Can anyone shine a light on this?

That hadn't occurred to me as I just alternate batteries as each one runs out and I hadn't noticed it doing it on one or the other.

Thanks, that wouldn't account for being unable to update the firmware though.

I just watched a tutorial on YouTube and I'm definitely doing it correctly.

Confuzzled.

The firmware update file has to be in the root directory of your memory card for the camera to see it. If it can't see the file then it doesn't show the update option in the menu. Also you have to do one file at a time - don't put both A and B files on the card at the same time.

Hope that helps :)
 
It won't allow you to update the firmware if the battery has a fault or is undercharged.

The update has only come in one part and it's actually in the DCIM folder on the card, is this correct?
 
Ah, ok.

Sussed it. Hopefully this little niggle may now be sorted.
