Hi folks,

Anybody know if there's a way to set a D700 so that (when shooting on timer) the camera will autofocus the moment before the shot is taken, rather than when you first press the button to initiate the self timer?

Cheers,
Rich

Hi folks,

Answered my own question - turns out you can use the 'interval shooting' mode to simulate this, set it to take two shots say 10 seconds apart then press start, it will shoot the first one which will be wasted, then 10 seconds later it will refocus and shoot the second one.

Takes a few clicks to set it up but looks like that's the only way

Might I guess that manual focus is inapplicable to your purpose?

Yeah MF wouldn't work in the scenario I'm on about.

The interval timer method seems to work perfectly actually, also makes it nice and easy to take three or four shots in case the first is no good.
