I've been doing more and more sports photography this year mainly at League 1&2 Levels. I have been thinking about getting rid of 1 of my D700's ( as I own 2 ) and replacing it with a D3, I know the Body is alot better built and FPS is slightly faster, Is it worth switching to a D3 at the end of the day?

I have had both cameras and I would have to say a resounding NO. IMHO its not worth the extra cash. The D700 is a great camera and it does nearly everything a D3 does.

For some reason I never really liked the D700 - don't know why either as it is a fine camera. Rather bizarrely I did like the D3 though, so for me I'd switch. The D3 will also give you two card slots, 100% viewfinder and 9 fps (and 5:4 crop too) though you lose the built in flash and sensor clean. I think the handling of the D3 was better for me, but your mileage may vary.

I have used both, and to me they both great camera, but maybe hold out for a while and see if you can find an D3s you can afford :)

D700-D3s...Hell yeah.
D700-D3.. Meh.

If you want faster fps, buy the battery grip and some D3 batteries.

no its the same camera.

d700 actually came out after the d3, so had most of the stuff the d3 had. think i'd stick with what you've got. unless theres something on the d3 you specifically need, hth mike.
