Hi there
can any one help a newbie ive currently ordered a nikon d700 from amazon with a nikon 35mm prime!!
ive just noticed it says dx lens will this work or should i refuse delivery of the lens?
 
It will work but you will not possibly get the full picture as the DX range is designed for the smaller sensor. Really if I were you I would see what I could do to return it and get the correct lens for the D700.

The D700 has an auto DX mode so it can detect when a DX lens is attached. All that will happen is that your pictures will be approximately 5mp as opposed to the 12mp of the sensor. Personally, I don't see much point in keeping the 35mm.
 
The 35mm does have a great reputation when the camera is forced into FX mode with it on. It does vignette heavily though. Personally I'd send it back and replace with either the sigma or Nikon 35 f/1.4 depending on how flush you feel
 
Ive used one on mine, but there is vinetting with it so it stays for the d90
Cant go wrong with the 50mm in my opinion
 
Ok thanks for the replys ive been on to amazon via there online chat but my order is shipped together so i cant refuse delivery but i can return the 35mm after taken delivery

Ive also bought 3 other lenses
Nikon 85mm f1.8 AF-D
Nikon AF D 35-70mm f2.8 Zoom
Nikon AF-S VR 70-300 f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED

I Manly shoot portraits and street and the odd wildlife
whats your thought on the lenses i purchased which is the sharpest and good bokeh is also important and will i need any other lenses to my kit? :)

All the lenses you have ordered are very well respected and should be great for a beginnner. I only wish I had those lenses when I started out.

Anyway, if you purchased the 35mm DX lens directly from Amazon (and not from a marketplace seller) then returns are simple. I've returned a few things including 1 lens I bought from Amazon and never had any quibbles from them. The only issue which isn't really Amazon's fault is that Yodel are idiots and never turn up to collect returns.
