Hi i currently shoot with Nikon D80's and want to go up a level and purchase a new camera and lens. I shoot weddings and really struggle in low light conditions. I want a camera to help with this and a new lens for beauty shots with dof. I was at Jessops at the weekend and they advised going for the D7100 over the D7000 and i'm not sure if that was because its cheaper :o has anyone any advice with using either camera?
They also recommended a nikon 24-70mm f.2.8G lens at a whopping price! and a AF-S 50mm f1.4g lens.
if anyone has any advice on what i should get for what i need it for i'd really appreciate it :) thank u,
Cindy

Jeeez jessops must really want some cash out of you ;)

If you shoot weddings you might want to have a look at something like a used D7000 and a used tamron 17-50mm f2.8

For quality and speed though I'd go with a double D7000 combination with a couple of fast primes. A 24/35mm +85mm will cover you for most scenario's.

Anyhow, if you're prepared to dip your foot in the used pool, you'll get MUCH more for your money and as a result will be note likely to get the shots due to more gear :)

I have both cameras and it seems to me that the D7100 has more MP and a few other little things the D7000 does not have. The D7100 has a green cast on the preview screen so it is poor for setting white balance.I wanted more MP otherwise I would not have bought the D7100.

I had a D7000 on loan but in the end got a D7100 and 50mm f1.8 amongst other things. IMO it's the best DX camera to date.

The 24-70 although a great lens, is really more for full frame.

Hi thanks everyone for ur advice i've decided to go for the the d7100 am tres excited!

If money isn't an issue then D7100 is the right choice

Personally I went D7000 for 95% of the functions for 60% of the price when compared to the D7100

I paid £509 for my new D7000 which I reckon was a total bargain!
