On my Nikon D780 when pressing review button it takes minutes to show first picture then is fine and immediate until I switch camera off ,then repeats every time I switch camera on.

Same here. But not actual minutes. :)
 
This is normal on digital cameras - it takes a few seconds to read the data from the disk, then access to it is almost instant once the review buffer is loaded. (y)
 
The delay on mine is a few seconds at most for the first image and then pretty much instantaneous. Normal I think as Sky says (y)
