Nikon D800 and D400

Sorry if anyone came here thinking there was a date.

I would be surprised if we see anything this year or even the early part of next. Therefore it seems odd to me yesterday that Nikon are doing a special offer on new D300s (buy one get a free 750Gb hard drive) admit it is not the best offer.

Has Nikon been left with more D300s than it expected given the D7000 (which don't seem to come up second hand so often)?

There seem to be a few D7000's in the classifieds on here now. I'd imagine the D300s is struggling as in the MP war where the consumer is concerned with it is bettered by the D7000...the areas where the D300s shines like AF less likely to appeal to the average punter. The more discerning buyer or pro will either already have a D300s or know it's due to be replaced.

They've done it more than once before on the D300S, first time it was a free SB900 (which I got when I bought mine), then more recently there was a free MBD10 grip sparking speculation that it was about to be replaced, now another one. I don't think you can read anything into these promotions. Soon after I bought my D700 there was an offer for a free grip, that was about a year ago and once again speculation was rife it was Nikon preparing for its successor... still waiting :bonk:
