Nikon D800... the D700 upgrade or just a new camera completely??

Spotted this on digitalrev whilst having a look at prices of a D700...

Not sure if any one has seen this or not.. D800 the best goes to those who wait?

just seen a D3100 with a 14mp sensor, so i recon this would be a true bet and with the D700 being so strong i think with a 16mp sensor this will be a super peice of kit.

doubt there will be a d800 this year. d700s or x - probably.

If they do replace it then it's going to be a fair bit more expensive then the D700 for a while. I'd be surprised if they replace it this year, but having said that there must have been a reason behind them offering a free grip with all new D700 purchases for three months this summer, so maybe they were trying to clear the stock, who knows?

There's going to continue to be a lot of speculation leading up to Photokina, so I guess we'll know in a month or so.

Doubt it, the D300s + free SB900 offer in November last year hasn't lead to the D300s' demise so far, if the D700 hangs around for a similar time I wouldn't expect a replacement until next year.
