Nikon D90 Autofocus question

Having just bought a D90 can someone tell me if this is right or i am doing something wrong?

I have a 50mm 1.8D on the camera and set the focus point to the middle (I think) and when i focus on something, keep the shutter half pressed and then, when i recompose the shot the lens focus moves slightly too! I thought as long as the shutter button is half pressed the focus would be 'locked' on the item and not change?

Any settings in the camera i should check to see if i have set it right?

Focus is set to 'Area Mode'
Center focus point set to 'Normal'

Also, is it normal for all the focus points to light up?

Is it set to single AF (AF-S) rather than continuous (AF-C)? That and the single point AF setting in the menu should allow focus/recompose.
 
Just checked and it is set to AF-A.

How do i change it?

Edit: Just changed it and solved that issue!!! Many thanks for helping me out mate

Also, should all the focus points light up or just one as all mine light up

The selected point should be in brackets. I recall they all light up though. Been a while since I owned a d90 though.

This is because you have it set to area mode - it shows all the focus points that are in focus.

If you just want to focus on one point then you need to set it to single point AF mode - Customs Settings menu, Item A1. If the subject is stationary I would recommend setting AF-S too if you are doing focus and recompose.
