The time has come to look at upgrading my D60 to something a bit better and something that has a motor in the body so I can use my 50mm, and the D90 is firmly in my sights, albeit a second hand one.

A couple of questions....

1. For anyone with a D90, how does it perform at ISO800 and 1600? I want a body that's going to serve me well at high ISO.

2. I'm looking to spend around £500 or so, how many actuations are realistic for a second hand model around this price, bearing in mind they go for £640 new?

3. Is it worth going for or should I wait a few months and buy a second hand D300 instead?

Thanks

The D90 is great at high ISO, in my 'real world' pics, I could not tell which were at 200 and those at 800 apart, 1600 was very good and even 3200 was fine. On my D300 1600 is about as far as I would go, but do prefer this to my old D90.

D300 - more robust, better controls, better to hold for me.
D90 - Better ISO, you can use the £15 Nikon remote

If ISO and £££ is important to you then D90, if not D300.
