i have a nikon d90 and sigma 150 x 500 , i know not perfect for wildlife but all i can afford can any one help me with settings for bird pics , mine all seem a little out of focus not pin sharp
Sounds like a pretty good lens for wildlife to me, not that i kow anything about wildlife photography. Probably your shutter speed have you got any examples?

My first guess without seeing a photo would be a higher shutter speed. Put it in shutter priority mode and set the shutter speed to 1/500 as a start and see how it goes.
If the camera focussed on the bird, then it is probably the movement that has stopped it being pin sharp.
