Hi guys,

I am going to South Africa on Monday for 14 days, 3.5 of which will be on safari :D. I am going to take 2 EN-EL3e batteries for my D300s, but I have just read somewhere something that says in Southern Africa that the electrical voltage is 220V, whereas in the US it is 110V. I live in England, and was wondering what it is here. Apparently if it is different you need a voltage converter.

I am a bit confused having read this. Can anyone help me out??

Thanks

Oscar ;)

That little black box the batteries clip into is the converter - should be fine - I've used Nikon battery chargers everywhere - all you need is a multi-adapter plug...

As Arkady said, the Nikon charger will handle any mains voltage you are likely to encounter anywhere in the world, and even if it didn't, South Africa's voltage is similar enough to the UK to make no difference. When I moved from SA to UK I took electrical goods and they all worked fine.
Just make sure the plug adapter you get specifies South Africa as they use an old fashioned 3 round pin style plug. I got one from the airport duty free the last time I went.

as said should work fine

if all else fails plug it into a hippo

i have a good tip if taking lots of chargers camera/ phone etc
you can save weight by taking one lead as they mostly use the same lead

The MH-18a charger for the En-EL3e battery for the D80, 300 and 300s will work on any input voltage from 100-240v ac. So yes, it will be fine!
