Nikon Flash - SB600 or 700?

Hi all - bit of a dilemma going on at the moment... Do I buy a second hand SB-600 for ~£150, or an SB-700 for £190 (includes the £40 cashback)?

Not sure myself - it's going on a D300, got some family weddings coming up, bit of motorsport, bit of everything really...
 
any reason for a nikon? plenty of 3rd party flashes out there, i have the SB700 but use the Yongnuo 586s the most. actually that's a lie, i don't use it the most, but i plan to!
 
The reason is I'm used to i-TTL - it really does make using the flash a breeze, whether on or off camera...
 
the setting up of the SB600 I found a bit fiddly so sold it as I already have the SB900 which is far easier to use and a lot more powerful as well. Out of the 2 you mentioned although not having owned to SB700 that would be my choice. if money wasn't a problem I would highly recommend the SB900

The yongnuo's come with ITTL, can get for about £80, the ones i have, the 568ex has High Speed Sync too at £119.99

coupled up with the yongnuo triggers, its a pretty cheap and useful way to get off cam flash.

The Nikon D300 flash can be used as a master control for Nikon flashguns so avoids the need for triggers. It can even set up individual flashguns in groups or as singles depending on requirements. This avoids the need for triggers and the like by third party equipment
 
Having used a SB600, and owning a SB 700 ( as well as a couple of Y 565 ex's ? and A SB-910.................). I'd suggest the SB 700 given the choice betwee that and a 600.

It's less fidely to use, especially when off camera. For every thing other than HS sync, the Y 565ex is great. Right up until you forget its does not have HS sync.

So, to answer the Q. SB-700
