Nikon Flash Sync cords - SC-17 'v' SC-28

Hi,

Can anyone help me out with flash sync cords please?

All I would like is a cord to allow off camera flash with a fully functioning SB-600.

MPB have the SC-17 for £34 (second hand I assume) and Amazon have the SC-28 for £37.25.

Is it just that the Amazon price for the SC-28 is pretty good or am I missing something?

...or is a cheap Jessops equivalent going to do the exact same thing?

I have all 3, (SC-17, SC-28 and SC-29),...so, I'll tell you the difference. The SC-17 is grey and has the old style turn wheel lock for attaching to the camera. The SC-28 is black and has the new style lever lock (Posi-Lock) for attaching to the camera. The SC-29 has an AF assist lamp in the portion that attaches to the camera. (otherwise your AF assist is up on the flash with the other 2) This is only useful in very dark environments. Also, the cord on the SC-28 and SC-29 comes out the side instead of the front. And The SC-17 and SC-28 have in and out connections to attach SC-26 & SC-27 Multi Flash Sync cords.
They all can be used with i-TTL just fine.

That helps a lot, appreciate that.

I agree that the SC-28 coming out to the side looks much neater, I'll go for that one I think as I don't think I will need AF assist for my photography.
