Nikon FX Questions

Hi guys thinking of moving from D90 to D700. I feel that FX suits my style of photography but have a few questions..

-Can dx lens be used on FX cameras?
-Am i correct in thinking the viewfinder on d700 is representative of the photo you take?
-is the D700 the best choice FX?
-does the d700 grip increase the rate in which i can take photos?

1. Yes, but the camera auto crops it to about 5MP. The viewfinder greys out the bit that gets cropped

2. Not exactly, its only 95% coverage.

3. For Nikon, you only have 3 choices, the D700, D3 and D3x

4. No, I dont think does on the D700, but might be wrong.

D700 grip increases FPS from 5fps to 8fps (though I measured 9 when I shot my stopwatch...)

Putting a DX lens on an FX camera is pointless imo.

Generally, I'd agree. However, this set on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/canderson/sets/72157622462281022/with/4020620757/) uses the 35mm f1.8 (in FX mode) and the vignetting doesn't seem too bad when wide open. For most low-light stuff, the vignette isn't likely to show off. Once stopped down, this is an entirely different story, as light drop-off will be very harsh.

D700 grip increases FPS from 5fps to 8fps (though I measured 9 when I shot my stopwatch...)

Think you'll find that you'll get 8fps if you fit a EN-EL4/4a battery (with a BL-3) or if you use AA batteries...
