Nikon G to Micro 4/3 Adapter

HI guys. I recently was sent FOC by a very nice person over at another forum, a Nikon F to MFT adapter which I have tried with my Nikon 300mm F4 AFS on my new GX7 and OMD-EM5 and it works really well, and I have some tack sharp shots (thank you focus peeking on the GX7). I wouldn't mind trying my new Nikon 80-400 G AFS VR lens on these bodies to give me an effective 800mm F5.6, and with the IBIS on both bodies, stabilised, as well as my Nikon 70-200 F2.8 AFS VRII, however these are G lenses and as such don't have an aperture ring, so need a "G" adapter rather than the "F" that i have.

I've had a quick look on the web and there are a bewildering array of adapters available, but some get shocking reviews. As I just want to dip my toe in so to speak, I don't want to spend a fortune (So a Metabones focal reducer is out of the question for now), so was wondering if anyone has one of these and could point me in the direction of a UK supplier of one that actually works.

I'll be shooting the 80-400 and 70-200 pretty much wide open (or just one stop down from open), so need an adapter that does allow full opening of the aperture (which apparently some don't). I've seen loads on fleabay ranging from a few pounds to about £50 ish, but am totally clueless as to which ones works, and which are just paperweights.

Not sure there are any adaptors that allow electronically controlled aperture across platforms. If such things are possible, I would think that SRB Griturn would be the people to talk to/ask about them.

Seen a few on usa sites. not many in uk/euro sites. And they weren't cheap, looking toward the 200usd...

If you don't mind a few that are paperweights, and can spare the 50 ukpish... I'd try one or two out. Might be worth contacting the sellers first to see whether they'd take it back if it doesn't do the job you want it to.

If you find a decent one, please post a review of it, as I am sure you aren't alone in wanting the nikon g to 4/3 mounts adapter...

The only adaptor I've ever come across that allows cross platform aperture control is the Nikon FT-1 which allows AF-S lenses to be used on 1 series bodies. It also allows plain AF lenses to be aperture controlled by the 1 series body but loses AF (obviously, since the 1 series lacks an AF motor in the body).

Thanks for the replies, but I've probably not explained myself well. I know that all the MF T adapters are dumb (I.e. no electrical contacts at all), but I've seen some which have a manual aperture ring (without the F stops engraved), that enables you to manually open and close the aperture on the lens via this ring. As you probably know, when using the F adapters without aperture control, G lenses mounted on it just close the aperture to its minimum, so you are effectively trying to shoot at F22 or F32.

Hope that now makes more sense?
