Nikon german products in english or german??

Ok might be a stupid question but what I'm thinking is buying some products of Nikon in Germany but would the Nikon eg camera body or lens either be in English or german language on the bodies!!!,

I'm pretty sure the software in the camera is changeable from language to language but I have concern with the hardware and maybe the instruction manuals

Any1 with experience....

Be aware that if it is a camera you're buying then Nikon UK will not touch it should anything go wrong. That was the policy a few years ago, and I haven't heard of that situation changing. :shrug:

Very good advice ,it's a bit dear to take a camera for repair back to Germany..

That's not true, sorry. If you buy the camera personally in another country, whether it be in the EU, or America or HK and you have proof of purchase then Nikon will honour the warranty. What they won't do is warranty work if you've bought it mail order or from a third-party seller on Ebay or the likes.
 
I'm more referring to the language with the products not the guarantee
 
OP - the text on the lens (e.g. Micro Nikkor) will say just that.

As for bodies, do you mean the text on the base? Don't know about that but I'd think they use English regardless of territory....

I have a few Nikon lens manuals lying here on my desk and they have multi-language sections as follows:

* 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II - Japanese, English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Dutch, Italian, Czech, Slovak, Chinese, and Korean.
* 28-300mm VR - as above
* 24-120mm VR - as above
* 24-70mm f/2.8 - as above, but excluding Russian, Czeck and Slovak
* 35mm f/1.4 - as above, but also including Romanian and Ukrainian

I also have a Nikon camera manual handy (D90) but it is 100% in English.

I would expect that any lens you buy will have a multi-language manual, but a camera will have a manual specific to the country of purchase.

Fortunately you can download English versions of all the manuals from the Nion USA support web site here.
 
Having experience of buying kit in Switzerland (not quite Germany I know, but what I say will still be valid) is that the camera manuals will come only in the local languages - which means every time I buy a camera I end up with German and French manuals in the box, and an Italian one strapped to the outside of the box. Flashes also come with just the local languages as well. I Generally swap out the Italian manual for an English one. Nikon does this free of charge.

The lenses come with a sheet manual in all languages (well not quite all, but you know what I mean).

All text on the bodies, flashes and lenses is in English. Also the default language for the camera's menu system is English, but can easily be changed.
 
I've bought a few Nikon things over here (SB900 flash and a D90, for starters) and the SB900 instructions were only written in German and I think it was the same for the D90 (although I can't remember now :thinking:).

But, the menus were all aready defaulted to English (the flash has no language options, I think).

I bought my d300 from france, camera is identical but the thick manual is french only, you can howver get Nikon to either change it or supply you on in the correct language
 
I was given a german D7000 by mistake recently. The manual is an inch thick and in German only. It is not a multiple language document.

Likewise, the camera menus were German, although I'm sure this can be altered in camera.

Now that I think of it, the German SB900 that I bought was ordered from Amazon UK (where it was actually cheaper). Because of my location, they sent it with German instructions, but because I'm English and not totally fluent in German, that was no good to me (you really need to read the instructions to get the most out of that flash ;)).

So, I contacted Amazon Customer Service (who I've always found to be excellent in every regard) and they ordered an English version for me from Nikon and paid to post it out (express delivery), so that I had it in my hand within about 5 days of purchasing the flash :eek:.

I :love: Amazon - if only ebay would learn even the most basic lessons from them :bonk:.

But in terms of Customer Service when things go wrong with their part of the package, ebay are very reluctant to get invloved and sort things out :shrug:.

Nowhere do they post details of how to contact a human being on their helpdesk and every message they send out in reply to emails requesting help are pre-formualted and (in my experience) always, always, always :bang: fail to address any key aspects of the actual complaint.

Considering how much money they make out of people (with their constant insistance on using PayPal for everything and charging sellers extortionate rates for that privilege too :razz:), I think that they could easily afford to do a lot better at looking after the people who've made them so bloody rich :suspect:.

OK, that was a good rant - I feel better now :D.

That used to be the case (you can phone them now) and they used to go out of there way to ensure no-one could contact them. The girl at Ebay's UK head office was really surprised a few years back when I phoned up and got straight through to the correct dept after digging about online and finding the direct number :lol:

Oh good, I didn't know that. Maybe all of the people like me who ranted (on various forums) about the lack of telephone support, have had our prayers answered :D!?
