So i am looking for a camera to step up in my photography skills, i am doing a studio course now. I am looking for a camera suitable to be able to do weddings but also to use in a studio. what Nikon is best to use for these and what lenses would you recommend for each studio and weddings? Please help, £500 is my budget!!

If your budget is £500 i doubt you will be able to get a kit suitable for doing weddngs.

I have spent 8x your budget and I am still missing things for weddings. Its a specialist art im afraid

For example lenses that are used in weddings in my experience include a 70-200 AF-S VR which is £1000 second hand, 17-55 F2.8 £600+ second hand. Most wedding togs use a D700 or D3 which is over £1400 or £2k for a D3 2nd hand or at a push a D300s around 900 2nd hand

Sorry for your budget I dont think there is alot you can get to do weddings if you intend to try and earn from it.

for £500 I would look for a 2nd hand D200 or if you are exceptionally lucky a D90 2nd hand

Agreed, you will in no way get a "proper" wedding kit for that money.

You'd get a D200 body and a cheap sigma or tamron 24-70mm lens possibly, thats about it really. Or a lesser body like a D60 and a slightly better lens, certainly not enough to comfortably and professionally shoot an entire wedding.

If its just snapshots for a friend or relative and they have a pro tog doing the main photos, then the best body you can afford plus a 50mm f/1.8 will be the best choice.
