Nikon lens hood.

Recently purchased a 52mm variable nd filter and now my Nikon Hb 45 lens hood won't allow me to put the filter on whilst its attached to the lens. Is there a lens hood with a greater inner diameter to rectify this problem? Lens being used 18 55.

Get a folding rubber hood of the right diameter to fit. Watch out for vignetting though.

I've been looking at those and read mixed reviews. So, it would have to be 52mm thread to the lens with a 52 mm thread to take the filter?

Simon, yes - the filter screws onto the front of the lens then the rubber LENS hood will screw onto that. Mine came from Premier Ink and works a treat. I use it mainly for excluding stray reflections when I'm shooting through glass - I press the front of the hood against the glass and shoot away, the rubber allows plenty of flexing.
