Hi,

I have been offered a Sigma 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 DG Macro Lens.
Is this worth considering? I assume it would be Autofocus on a D80?

It won't be a true nacro - i.e. it won't give an image at 1:1 - if you want it for macro work.

Ew, nasty aperture on that lens... I'd walk away unless it was free lol.

Thanks guys, what would give me good Macro results at a budget price?

I havn,t got one myself, but the Tamron 90mm is a true 1-1 macro and gets rave reviews. It costs about £350 which compared to a Nikon macro is a budget price.

The Tamron Adaptall-2 90mm macro is the still popular old manual focus version. Costs about £100. The N-AI mount may need to be bought separately (the Adaptall lenses have interchangeable mounts, allowing them to be used on a variety of different camera brands).
