Anybody touched up chipped paint finish on a Nikon lens with any success?

The lens in question is Nikon 70-200 and it's a bit scuffed in place but all the important bits are pristine. I quite fancy tarting it up but I have some questions:

What paint would I use and where from?

Is it worth the hassle? I'm wondering if it'll either look crap or will flake straight off again.
 
I wouldn't paint it incase it goes wrong and I doubt it will increase the value. And the paint won't have the same finish as the original coating so it will be obvious that you have painted it.

Cheers. Increasing value isn't really on the agenda unless you meant value to myself which I suppose sort of is. Which paints have you tried out of interest? I'm not sure that I'm too bothered about it being a perfect match or perfect finish but I wouldn't mind covering up a few areas that are showing bare metal.

Cheers. Generally I wouldn't bother with odd scuff. I've never been too precious about my gear but this is a bit unsightly and I wouldn't mind it being a little less so!

I know Canon can sell you paint to the same spec as original but not heard of Nikon doing the same.
 
I've fixed a couple of chips on an older lens of mine, used a small 'touch-up' brush from the local car accessories shop ... 'Hycote Colour Brush' Satin Black. On the couple of chips I did the finish was unnoticeable but I think doing a large area discretely would be very challenging.
