hi guys i currently have a D90 and the following lenses:

18-105mm VR DX
70-300mm VR
105mm VR

and looking forward to getting a wide angle lens aswell, anyway the question is will DX lenses work on FX cameras? as the wide angle lenses im looking at seem to be for DX cameras and i'm thinking of getting a d700 some point in the future, and dont want to have to re-buy lenses..

Cheers Ben

If you are going for FX camera, don't buy DX lenses.
Yes, they will work on your 700- in DX mode, so you will have lashed out to get the same as you have now.
If you are going to move up to full frame, I am sorry, but to get the full benefit, you will need full frame lenses.
The 70-300 and 105 will be fine on the D700, the DX lenses will cause the camera body to jump to DX mode as they are programmed to recognise the difference. You will shoot just the same as you do now.

It isn't a major hurdle, your lenses will still fetch good money, then just buy the full frame version. I would suggest you buy the very best, then you'll only buy it once.

thanks lensflare with that in mind i wont buy the DX lenses ill go for the FX lens, i dont mind loosing the DX kit lens as i'll prob sell it with the D90 when i eventually sell it
