I guess it gives you some idea of what the different focal lengths give you. Not bad little thing but I find it funny when you get to 600mm that the pose of the woman changes for some reason?!

I would assume they actually took a sequence of photos using lenses of specific lengths in order to create the full range back in the application, then it could zoom all the way in to a "full crop" without losing detail (just look at the huge quality difference between 79-80mm). Going from a 10mm to 600mm (even a simulation), regardless of how much you could zoom in on the image in post, would have some effect on perspective & distortion, depth of field, etc.
