Yes indeed. I know that, you know that, I suspect the person who raised the 42-450 issue may know that, but the OP might not. The OP might not be comparing to FX. He might not have an FX camera.But it will have the effective field of view of a 42-450mm if comparing to full frame
I get this all the time at work. Lots of people really don't realise that a 50mm FX lens is the same as a 50mm DX lens, because they get so many people telling them that the 50mm FX lens becomes 75mm when you put it on a DX camera.
Yip. Some salesmen are guilty of misleading customers about this too, through ignorance or to push a sale, and I can understand why some newcomers believe it. Focal length and field of view are fairly simple concepts once you have some knowledge and experience, but the difference isn't always very clear at first.

I wasn't being clear I guess. You are correct and this is what I meant. The perceived FOV "equates to" not "it becomes". Sorry, I thought this was generally understood.
