Nikon - m42

i bought a kiwifoto one off amazon for £15 or something afew weeks ago. Just be sure it has the glass element in it otherwise you can't focus to infinity :). i've no idea if theres a particular "one" to go for but i'm sure somebody more knowledgeable will be along in a minute :)

i've just been using mine with acouple of helios 44 2/58 lenses (i have 2 seperate ones from my old zenit)

actually using them i found the metering to be abit hit and miss but thats fully down to the user more than anything else :lol:

as for focussing, i assume your D300 is the same as my D7000, when you put it in manual focus you get the little focus icon in the bottom left of the viewfinder ( you know what i mean :lol: ) so thats quite handy :thumbs:
 
Main reason is whether it produces a crisper picture/nicer bokeh over the 50mm f1.4d (that I have).

Lens looks to be mostly 50mm on ebay - although cheap, or 20-30mm at a bit more... Thinking a 30mm might be a better choice.

Just have an itch to buy something, but need it to be worthwhile.. :)

Alternative I was thinking of is a lensbaby composer... or resist and save for a different lens...


Brands seem to vary.. Presume that carl zeiss is worth the extra money?

Heheh I know the feeling, the itch that needs to be scratched... if it helps, I bought a Lensbaby and have used it a handful of times. It's fun, but not that useful to me. Can't bring myself to sell it tho :lol:

Tempted by an M42 adaptor tho...
 
uh huh... Not sure I would use it - really wanted to get a proper tilt n shift, not many around but they are pricy!!

Anyways, back to the m42. seen some 30mm but they only go to f3.5?
f2.8 on a 135mm....

Does anyone use any m42 lenses that are <f3.5 and if so which?
Also are there any recommended ranges? ie I should look for 30mm or 28mm?

My lens set up has ultra wide and 50mm... hence thinking that sort of range.
Gonna go wander flickr see if there are any pics...
 
Kiron 105mm 2.8 Macro (or Vivitar series 1 105mm 2.5 serial beginning "22" is also built by Kiron)....if you can find one. Rare as hens teeth and just as pricey :)

or any other Super Takumar (i'm after a 50mm 1.4 myself)

Would you rate the "Auto Soligor 135mm f2.8 M42 Pentax/Praktica Tele Lens" ?
or a 28mm f2.5 ?

Seems some on there for CARL ZEISS FLEKTOGON MC 35MM F2.4... anyone have any of these? And al ink to any pics you've taken using it??
 
Does anyone have the 35mm f3.5 m42 and a 35mm f1.8 nikon ?

I would like to see comparative shots between the two... or links to pics taken using the lenses (especially the m42 lenses)
