Hi

Can you recommend any?

I have the 105mm f2.8d.
I am thinking of a longer lens, but unsure what to look for. I bought an old 200mm f4, but it is not a macro lens, and is manual. Although manual is nice I prefer a whine of a motor ;) af :)

So if you have a macro 1:1 nikon fit and found it crisp clear quality pics :) I'd like to know to see whats around :)

Thanks in advance.

60mm AF-D macro is a good buy - got a used one from MPB for £230, absolute minter - although it won't AF on bodies like the 40 or 60 without a body motor. Mind you, as Hairyduck says, macro is much easier done in MF

So the sigma 150mm or the nikon 200 f4...

Would they take decent pics of dragonflies without needing to be too close?
I've taken some (see the flickr link) using the 105mm. But the sun was too hot and they didn't like me getting close. They were approximately 1 inch long.

Sigma 150mm macro.......heavy but good IQ

I agree. I've got one and it is a super sharp lens. Very nice size and weight as well.

If you don't need the 1:1, then the 300mm f4 AF-S + 1.4X TC is a great dragonfly option.
