Nikon mb-d80 battery grip

This is an absolute must have if you use longer lenses - the extra weight on the camera body enables me to handhold a couple of extra stops. I can feel the front element of the lens wobbling when I take it off. That's a good price for one of these - I sold one, then missed it and ended up buying another.

That's a pretty good price for the genuine Nikon product

Watch those "genuine" Nikon batteries on Ebay though, most are fake, although it's relatively easy to spot a dodgy one if you know what you're looking for....

Its not a must have for everyone I can manage my 70-200 on a d700 without any issues at all.

I've stopped using one altogether I use the function buttons on the front of the camera lots and find I can't reach them from the grip and the balance just isn't an issue

Boyfalldown, it's really a very useful accessory, and not just for the portrait orientation buttons. A 70-200 isn't that long a lens for this to be really useful - try something nearer to 500mm - where the front element sits a foot or more from the lens mount - and I think you'd find a real difference. Of course, a D700/300 is a weightier camera than a D80/90, so it'll be better balanced with a 70-200 from the off.

Have you ever tried A/Bing a lighter camera with and without a grip? It was a real eye opener for me. Anyway, JM2C..

I think at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference & the largest lens I shoot regularly is the 70-200
