Something to look forward to here and would be interesting to see if it actually comes to fruition, especially when manufacturers are pitching mainly at consumer/amateur toggers.

Don't know if this has been covered before and I know it's a bit out of date but has anyone heard anything else to do with this or is Uncle Ken losing his marbles....
 
You shouldn't believe everything you read in "The Rockwell Files".
 
But doesn't it make you feel good knowing that there's even the merest idea floating around about new systems. Doubt it'll ever appear but to see how Nikon could do the MF market would be great. Reminds me of the olden days when the rumours about DSLRs were doing the rounds... look where we are with those these days :)
 
Just for curiosity, Nikon (or Nippon Kogaku as it was known early on) had considered a TLR 6x6 as well as a 35mm format.

Nippon Kogaku was initially a manufacturer of optical equipment and in the re-building programme of the late 1940s, were considering to begin manufacturing cameras as well as lenses, the TLR and 35mm rangefinder.

However, Japanese film manufacturers had been told to stop production of roll film by government authorities so that they could manufacture x-ray film instead. And this is believed to be one of the reasons why Nikon opted to develop 35mm cameras rather than 120.

A TLR did come out in the late 1950s called a 'Nikkenflex' but this was nothing to do with Nikon.
 
The closest thing to a Nikon 6x6 camera was the Bronica EC and S2 cameras which Nikon made lenses for.
