Nikon ML-3 Remote Control set

Just purchased this from W.Expr, the item shipped without a user manual, apparently Nikon have shipped some of these remotes without a manual by mistake, Nikon is supposed to be sending me a manual direct, that could take a longtime and there is not a downloadable version of the manual on Nikon's websites.

So my question is this for those of you that might own one.

The remote is not hard to figure and I have it working fine, however there is one feature I am unsure of, it is the function called A-Trig, now as far as I can make out this is supposed to act as an automatic trigger when something crosses the path of the receiver?? I tried the setting but the camera only fires when I wave the remote around, so how does this A-trig actually function? and how do I set it up?

I just bought one of these off this forum (£75 boxed, mint) and there was no manual. Someone in Danmark was kind enough to send me one.

The A trig mode is as you say. You set it and whenever anything crosses the path it will trigger the camera. Looks good for wildlife shots.

Hi Wack,

That picture in the listing is not what is being advertised. The pic looks like a ML-3 but the listing is for a different remote that is not wireless / infrared. The one advertised connects to your 10 pin socket and has about 1 metre of wire.

Looks a bit iffy to me. Selling something but having a pic of a much higher spec model. I don't use e-bay so not sure how they stand on stuff like this :shrug:

Edit: Seems to have good feedback but one of the feedbacks left is also misleading it says "ML-3 infrared remote shutter MC-30 fit nikon D300". These are two different remotes that the buyer appears to be happy with in one sentence :shrug: Just reminded myself why I stay away from e-bay :shake:

The listing says it's a ML-3, I can't read anything that says it's a wired remote
Package including:
1x IR Remote shutter transmitter with battery
1x IR Remote shutter receiver
1xCR2 Battery

I think he's put MC-30 in the title to attract bidders looking for a MC-30
 
Your right there Wack :thumbs: If that is an ML-3 at that price then someone is going to get a great bargain.

Not really sure why they are advertising a CR2 battery with it though. The ML-3 doesn't use one. It uses triple A's in the handpiece and the transmitter is powered by the camera via the 10 pin socket.

Too many inconsistencies for me, both in the ad / details, the price and the previous feedback. Give it a go as it may be fine.

You do realise it's a ML-3 clone, it won't be a Nikon product for £20 :)

Hi Wack. Thats me being a clown and showing my lack of experience with e-bay. :bonk:

I would go for it then at that price as there is not a great deal to lose. The Nikon one is pretty useful for the trigger device where you can set it so that it triggers the camera when something crosses the infra red signal which is what I got it for. Useful for wildlife etc. If that one does that it is an even bigger bargain :thumbs:

Just had a look at the ad on ebay,its a cheap copy, the writing on the item says YongNuo and not Nikon, sure there is a clue there some where:thinking:

Hey sorry oddbob. I just looked at the reference to the ML-3 and MC-30 which are Nikon product codes. Silly me eh!

Just off to self flagellate for the rest of the day.

is this thing compatible with D90 sounds like a perfect tool for home security :D (actually i was thinking unsuspecting public, put it in dark corners or street alleys and hope spider man whoozz pass
 
I am not 100% sure but I don't think it is compatible with a D90 as you need a 10 pin remote terminal.
