Nikon P7000 - anyone got one?

I am thinking of getting one of these, but would like toknow if anyone uses one and what they think of it.

I have a G12, but although it produces super pictures it is more fiddly than the G10 - that front control wheel is an abomination. Not so pleased with it due to the handling, the results are superb. I won't get rid of the G12, because I will put it in an underwater housing. The P7000 would compliment my SLR stuff better though.

I don't want any feedback on other compacts. The G12 is one I have. The P7000 is the ONLY other one I would consider and I would have it for "dry work" and the G12 for "wet work".
 
I was also contemplating one of these but most reviews say it is very very sluggish. The p7100 is out now I think which adresses a few of the p7000 s issues.
 
When the P7000 was released I thought it would be excellent having used the G11. A wee testing session and I asked when they were expecting to replace the prototype- imagine my surprise/ disappointment when I was told I was using a full retail version. Basically, extending the range too much has caused issues with distortion and the speed of RAW files is absolutely ridiculous- whoever signed it off should have been taken to task. The fact they have released the P7100 is pretty cheap too- a proper firmware fix would have gone a long way to resolving speed.
I would definitely not buy one- for their target market they are completely rubbish.
Not used a P7100 so don't know how well it fares. I wouldn't waste your money on a Nikon compact though and would stick with Canon despite the handling. The G13/14 would probably solve any handling issues anyway and they seem to have a much better grasp on that market.
 
:shrug: Anyone got one of these yet?..Certainly seems to have addressed a few of the p7000 issues from what I have read
 
I have a P7000 and i love it. Its my handbag camera. (im a D700 user). I brought it to carry with me at all times as the D700 is way to big to manage with a toddler in tow.

Its rubbish in auto (gave it to my mum at a friend wedding and the photos are shocking, to low a shutter speed) but in M, A & S its fine. I shoot RAW and haven’t had an issue with the speed, unless you were gunning it i dont think the speeds an issue.
 
Thanks for that but was hoping someone may have the 7100 and share their thoughts.When I say slow I mean just using the menus etc not shot to shot:thumbs:
