Nikon P7000

Well bit the bullit yesterdy and picked up a P7000 for £300 brand new from Kamera in St Helens
Up to now i am very pleased wit it but like all things in life nothing is perfect.Only three minor faults to me are ,no battery fuel guage like on my D80.a lousy histergram and the optical viewfinder only shows about 80% of the image but knew that before i bought it
Will the Metz af 24 flash work with this camera as it is half the price of the Nikon SB400 so a bit of a saving
Any photographers out there with any tips to get the best of the P7000?

Hi, I can't offer any tips about the P7000 because I haven't got one, but am interested in getting one though.
I have read in the reviews is that the response can be slow . How have you found the speed when navigating the menus and reviewing images etc ?

Hi Dave,not realy tried it out propely yet just playing with it in the garden,write times in raw a little slow and think the navagatan can be picked up quickly,Go to remember tis is a jack of all traids master of none but think it will need time to get to know its limitations but i am sure i will live with it,about 10 tons lighter than my DSLR so will get out and about more
Nice build quality but would not put a flashgun any bigger than the SB400,too top heavey

Thanks for your reply David. I some times wonder if the reviewers subconsicously compare things like repsonse speed with the D3 they 'played' with the day before !
As you say the P7000 has many features is a small package and there's bound to be compromises like any other comparitive make / model. I guess it's a case of working with the camera and understanding it rather than fighting against any limitations.
I'd be interested in any further insight in it's preformance when you've had more time to experiment. Cheers. Dave.

I am going out tomorrow to see what I can get,will ether post the shots on TP or can email you them ,depending what they are like LOL.The store i bought it from is called Kamera in St Helens and they do a mail order service called Best Cameras selling at £300 with a 3 year warenty and a rather nice Samsonite case
